Here’s my latest project I have been working. This is a pattern from Arne & Carlos. If you have checked out their podcast.. you must. I love tuning in and listening to them.. probably more so, because of their Norwegian and I can relate to where they have been, and how Norwegians are… Yes, even though i am Canadian, the viking blood runs very deep within me.

The Finnmark Cowl is a great little project, that is quick and easy. It is good for new colourwork knitters. The one thing i really like about colourwork, is following a graph pattern, makes it very simple and easy.
I used a generic acrylic blend wool, not the highest quality, but after blocking it, it has softened up quite nicely. The pattern can be bought online at Arne & Carlos Webshop
One of the issues I did have was all my colourwork tends to be quite tight, so next one I do, i will go up a needle size. For this one, i used a US 6 (4mm) for the entire cowl. It is recommended to start with a smaller needle on ribbing, but i decided to go bigger, since i didn’t have one available at the time. When i finished, it was a bit smaller from the pattern’s estimated size it should be.
However I did block it, and it almost got to the same size as the pattern. Sometimes, blocking can work in your favour !
I plan to try this one again, I have some wool arriving from Prince Edward Island this week, so perhaps, I will try it with a bigger sized needle. I totally recommend to pick up the pattern and give it a try.
